Your Path to Becoming an HMIS Super User
The quality of data is essential to the work being done in our community. By mastering the HMIS, you move beyond simple data entry to understanding how to effectively communicate the success of your programs.
Our training curriculum is designed to help staff at all levels enhance their understanding of data collection, performance measurement, and system design.
Beyond software functionality, these courses ensure every user is equipped to protect client privacy through state-of-the-art security features and rigorous standards.
Training
Welcome to Clarity HMIS!
To receive access to the Clarity Human Services HMIS system, all new users are required to complete mandatory training and submit an End User Agreement.
Please follow the three steps below to get started:
Step 1: Complete Privacy & Security Training
Before accessing the HMIS system, you must complete the HMIS Privacy & Security Training.
- Action: Submit the Privacy and Security Training Request Form to get access to the LMS. Then log in to the LMS and complete the Privacy & Security Training.
Step 2: Attend HMIS Essentials Training
Next, attend the HMIS Essentials: General Clarity Training. This session is offered on the first Thursday of each month and serves as your starting point for mastering Clarity Human Services. We will cover core system navigation to ensure you can confidently and securely manage data.

Step 3: Submit Your End User Agreement
Once you have completed both trainings, you must submit a completed End User Agreement.
- Action: Email your completed agreement to support@bitfocus.com.
Note: Once your training attendance has been verified, a new user account will be created. You will receive your log-in credentials directly from the Bitfocus Help Desk.
HMIS Next Level: Advanced User Training
Build upon your foundational knowledge with this monthly advanced session. We move past the basics of Clarity Human Services to explore complex features, time-saving workflows, and best practices for navigating the system with expertise.

HMIS Spotlight: Data Analytics (Looker)
Deepen your system expertise with our specialized monthly workshops. Topics rotate each month to offer a focused look at either Santa Barbara's Coordinated Entry System (CES) workflows or data analytics and reporting through Looker.
